with a free wi-fi connection …
Yay!!!
So, how many days do you think it’s gonna take AT&T to come out and fix my internet connection? How many evenings will I spend sitting in cafe’s with free wi-fi so I can get some work done? I guess we’ll find out. Now I’m off to make a furious...

Oh my. Oh my oh my oh my. I’ve been experiencing some rather obnoxious technical difficulties with my computer/internet connection/who-knows-what since last week. For some reason, I can’t upload images to either of my blogs or Facebook, which is a bit of a challenge for a working photographer. As part of my trouble-shooting effort, I...

I hope to:
battle with my arch nemesis (i.e. catch up on laundry)
finish reading The Omnivore’s Dilemma
hold an Uno tournament with the big monkeys
survive church with my happy-so-long-as-he’s-not-contained baby monkey
do yoga
see some venomous snakes
laugh
and shoot a roll of film with my old friend who started this journey with me many, many years ago
Have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
R.

Dear Friends,
Can we talk about becoming a professional photographer? About this crazy roller coaster ride I’ve been on for the last 8 years? I’ve wanted to talk about my job (and the industry in general) for awhile, but haven’t been sure exactly what to say or how to say it. I want to be honest...

When I first started photographing children professionally (nearly 8 years ago!) I would often feel self-conscious trying to engage my small subjects with other adults around. Eventually I learned to tune out the adults who were likely making fun of me behind my back and now I rarely think twice about it. Occasionally though something...

We had three extra monkeys with us this weekend. And guess what? My house feels quiet and empty now that we’re back to just our four. I’m not sure I ever thought I’d describe my 3-bedroom townhouse as being quiet or empty. But it’s all relative, isn’t it?
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
Reb

Ever since baby-O was born, taking care of my family has become all consuming. Moments when I used to squeeze in a bit of work no longer exist. My child-care arrangements fell through and my monkey-free work hours are more limited then they’ve been in years. The few dedicated work hours I do have each...

I’ve traveled sans monkeys quite a bit over the years. Traveled for work or family or alone time with Dr. Dan. The bigger monkeys handle it well. The little ones … well, they always make you pay.
Years ago, when the big monkeys were the little ones, Dr. Dan and I met my family in Paris...

Owen’s first birthday along with the start of 2010 has me thinking a lot about the last year … and how 2009 showed no mercy. I tried so so hard but most of my good intentions didn’t pan out the way I had hoped and I have felt so disappointed in myself. Of course there...

There is a war raging here in Chapel Hill.
Over my house.
On one side we have me. The lone defender.
On the other, 4 little hooligans determined to leave a trail of stuff where ever they go. Assisting the hooligans in their determined effort to take over the house is Father Time, who causes all kinds of...
