Overexposed bio picture

Welcome to Overexposed

In July of 2006 I started a blog as a way of showcasing my images to family and friends.  I was feeling very self-conscious about blogging (and still do - it's all a bit pretentious and self-promoting, don't you think?) and named the blog Overexposed because it played off a photography term and aptly described how I was feeling at the time.

Over the years, Overexposed has evolved into an online journal of sorts ... a place where I can showcase things both silly and serious and keep in touch with clients, family and friends alike.

Thank you (so very much) for stopping by.

xoxo,

Rebecca

A Milestone

For 7 of the last 8 years, Dr. Dan has worked “overnight call” at the hospital as part of his medical training.  What is overnight call you ask?  Well, it means he goes to work early in the morning and works all day, all night and then the next day (usually between 30 – 38...

Where is Your Heart?

This week has been equal parts wonderful and difficult.  We started out the week surrounded by family and friends for Owen’s baby blessing (a tradition in the Mormon Church) and it was so great to celebrate this baby boy who is growing and thriving and who we love so much.  It was also wonderful to...

W

is for wet:

And one for Emma:

JUST KIDDING!
I couldn’t resist after Emma’s comment.  It’s just a really bad composite (note the tile doesn’t match up by the back wall).  Please don’t send child protective services after me.
xoxo,
Rebecca
p.s.  thanks to Amy for suggesting water for W as it inspired these shots.

“But for her there was neither peace nor rest”

I have been thinking about this post on the Segullah blog, wondering what my red shoes are and if it is possible to find balance.
There are so many things in this life to be interested in, so many good things to pursue and learn about, so many ways to be involved and make a difference. ...

The Conversation that Went From Bad to Worse to Really Really Really Bad

From this morning:
Rebecca: Whew!  Noah.  You smell stinky.  Why don't you go poop in the potty.
Noah (in jubilant 3 year old voice): I don't need to poop in the potty Mom.  I already pooped in my underwear.
Rebecca (in shocked voice, as Noah has never pooped in his underwear before):  Really?  You pooped in your underwear? ...

Smitten

with my sweet baby-O, who is 3 months old today.  I can't believe he's mine and I can't believe it's been 3 months already!
Think we can convince his chin to share some of the love with the rest of his body?  Seriously.  The child is storing at least half his body weight under there.  ...

Looking Back: Red Flag Ignored, January 17th

I should have known something was up when Noah suggested, insisted I "put baby Owen down and go take a nap Mom!" and then pushed me into my room and shut the door behind me.  Little alarm bells went  off in my head, but I was too tired to care.  Dr. Dan was in the...

Looking Back: Photographing the Alphabet

Dena, being the wonderful photographer friend that she is, has challenged me (well, both of us really) to several photo projects in an attempt to keep things fresh, see outside the box, get out of a rut, whatever.  I have, ahem, never actually finished one of these photo projects … but I've learned valuable lessons...

Ridiculous

The title of this post is referring to two things in particular:
1.  Church today.  It was me by myself with all 4 monkeys.  Ridiculous doesn't begin to cover it.  But at least I'm laughing about it, right?
2.  Spring Forward.  Whoever (or is it whomever?) invented daylight savings obviously did not have young children in mind. ...

Conspiracy Theory

Some of my earliest memories are of conspiring with my sisters to stall bedtime and drive my poor Mom nutty.  I'm guessing I was about 4 years old when we'd plan to each take turns going to the bathroom but sit on the toilet forever before actually going.  You know … "Rebecca, GO to the...
