Overexposed bio picture

Welcome to Overexposed

In July of 2006 I started a blog as a way of showcasing my images to family and friends.  I was feeling very self-conscious about blogging (and still do - it's all a bit pretentious and self-promoting, don't you think?) and named the blog Overexposed because it played off a photography term and aptly described how I was feeling at the time.

Over the years, Overexposed has evolved into an online journal of sorts ... a place where I can showcase things both silly and serious and keep in touch with clients, family and friends alike.

Thank you (so very much) for stopping by.

xoxo,

Rebecca

I will survive. Right?

The holiday portrait season + 3 big monkeys + 1 baby monkey + a husband that was supposed to be around more but isn’t + chocolate and diet coke in excess = a bleary-eyed, sleep deprived, vitamin deficient, worn-out Rebecca.
I survive every year.  I’ll survive another, right?  Oooh, but there hasn’t been a baby monkey...

To My Sweet Sister “Nanny”

Happy happy birthday to my sweet, gorgeous sister Anne. Thank you for being my friend, stylist, and road trip partner-in-crime (hey, let’s jump in the car tomorrow and drive to … to … Kalamazoo. See if you can get work off and I’ll pack the car. Okay?). I love you so...

2 Reasons Why

My very brave friend Amy put in a request to stop at Mt. Rushmore on our crazy road trip last summer.  Mr. Rushmore?  Sure, why not?
Here are two reasons (among many) why I’m so glad we did:
1.  We raced a storm up the mountain and got to experience this as we pulled into...

He Looks Sweet

And he is.
But he learned to spit out his food this weekend.  At first it was an occasional thing.  Tonight, however, 90% of his dinner went in his mouth and came right back out after gumming it for a few minutes.  His pureed sweet potatoes dripped down his chin and onto his shirt.  The rest...

I want! I want! I want!

I want to raise thoughtful, responsible, well-adjusted monkeys.
I want to put a simple, fresh, organic meal on the table for my family every night.
I want to break my terrible, horrible, no-good refined sugar addiction.
I want to feel emotionally and physically strong again.
I want my pre-pregnancy body back.
I want to realize my artistic potential.
I want to...

2008 Mud-babies in 2009

2008 was a good year for our branch of the Mudrick family: each of the married kids had a baby.  Two girls and two boys to be exact.  This past August we all gathered at my in-laws to welcome Dr. Dan’s youngest sibling home from missionary work in Taiwan, and decided a 2008 Mud-baby portrait...

… NINE …

What to say about Owen at 9 months?  Here are a few details I hope to tell him when he asks, “What was I like as a baby?”:
His eyes are the color of blueberries.  His strawberry-blond hair curls tight tight tight when it’s wet and then loosens up a bit when it dries.  He hates...
