A Call to Action
Let's support menopause research!
Hi all,
Women Living Better is a website dedicated to educating women about the menopause transition, primary through explaining menopause research in ways that anyone can understand. It’s a great resource, and I recommend signing up for their newsletter.
In recent years, the team behind WLB have conducted their own menopause research and have published seven papers with their findings. I wrote about their most recent research paper last May, which you can read here:
The good folks at Women Living Better are working on a few exciting research projects that I wanted to pass along, because I’m not going to complain about the lack of menopause research and then pass up an opportunity to be part of the solution.
First - and this one is time sensitive - there is an anonymous survey you can take about how the menopause transition impacts mood. The survey closes March 1st - just a few days from now - so click this link ASAP to fill out the survey. The survey takes 10-20 minutes and is open to women ages 35-55.
Second, Women Living Better is doing a pilot study looking at fitness wearables and how they can better understand changes to the body leading up to menopause. Here is the info from the Women Living Better newsletter:
An exciting pilot study using wearables to capture the lived experiences of 250 women ages 35–55 is launching soon.
Aim: To address a significant knowledge gap by documenting the many unique pathways through the menopausal transition, beginning with the earliest changes.
Design: Participants will use an Oura Ring, a Fitbit Sense 2 and a custom mobile app to track physiological data and personal experiences.
Data privacy: All data will be fully anonymized. Participants will be able to compare their own experiences with aggregated, anonymized data from other participants.
Recruitment: Initial recruitment will be announced in a future Women Living Better newsletter. Please consider forwarding this newsletter to women ages 35–55 who may be interested in participating in this wearables study.
How cool would it be to participate in this study??? I’m planning to apply, and think you should too.
xo,
Rebecca
